Terms
What FamVerify does - and what it doesn’t.
These terms govern your use of the FamVerify website, iPhone and Android apps and supporting service. They are designed to be read alongside our Privacy and Security pages.
Effective: 27 August 2026
Your agreement with us
FamVerify is operated by Andrew Tech, an independent UK studio led by Andrew Misselbrook. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use FamVerify.
You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian and ask them to help you understand these terms. A person paying for a subscription must be at least 18 and able to authorise the store purchase.
The FamVerify service
FamVerify lets you create deliberate trust groups called Circles and ask somebody in a shared Circle to complete a fresh identity check on a registered phone. Live checks require an internet connection and the FamVerify service. Offline guidance is safety information, not a live result.
What a verification means
A successful result means that the registered trusted phone for that Circle member produced a valid, fresh signature after local phone authentication. Results are intentionally short-lived.
A result does not establish that:
- a payment, transfer, message or other request is safe or genuine;
- the person is acting freely rather than under pressure or coercion;
- their phone, operating system or account has never been compromised; or
- their statement is truthful or financially sensible.
FamVerify does not approve transactions, analyse calls, detect deepfakes or replace your bank, emergency services or independent judgement. Confirm identity first, then assess the request separately.
Your account and trusted phone
- Use a name that lets people you know recognise you; do not impersonate another person.
- Protect your phone and set up a Recovery Guardian before it is lost, replaced or compromised.
- Do not share tokens, recovery material, passcodes or anything presented as secret.
- Keep the app and phone operating system reasonably up to date.
- Only approve an action or identity check you understand and expect.
- Tell us promptly if you notice account activity you do not recognise.
Circles and invitations
A Circle is a private trust group, not a public directory. Share an invitation only with the intended person. An invitation expires, can be claimed once and creates a join request - it does not make somebody trusted automatically.
Only the Circle owner can create an invitation. An existing owner or admin must recognise the person and may approve them using a trusted phone or reject the request. Decisions are audited, and rejections are shown in Circle activity. Owners and authorised admins can otherwise manage membership. Members can leave. An owner can delete a Circle, which immediately closes it for everyone, revokes membership access and cancels pending invitations, joins and checks. Eligible records are then retained or minimised as explained in the Privacy notice.
Profiles and private nicknames
You can choose a display name, initials and icon colour and review your own recent profile changes. Other active Circle members see your current profile so they can recognise you.
You can also give somebody in a shared Circle a private nickname. That nickname is visible only to you and does not change their public profile or what anybody else sees.
Recovery Guardian
You may nominate one person from a shared Circle as your Recovery Guardian. They must accept through a protected identity check. The relationship ends if it is removed or the shared Circle connection needed for it no longer exists.
An accepted Guardian may start lost-phone recovery and give you one-time pairing details. They cannot respond to checks as you. A replacement phone creates a new protected key and becomes your only trusted phone after a 24-hour safety window; either participant can cancel while recovery remains open.
Keep pairing details private. Email, telephone access and a support request by themselves are not enough to recover an established identity.
Subscriptions and capacity
Capacity is purchased in blocks and totalled across the Circles funded by one payer:
- One Circle of 1–6 people: £0.99 per month.
- Each additional Circle of up to six people: another £0.99 per month.
- Current store products support up to ten Circle blocks under one payer.
One person funds each Circle, which currently supports no more than six active people including its owner. Other people in that Circle do not each need a subscription. Where one person funds several Circles, FamVerify totals one capacity block for each Circle and uses one subscription tier for that payer.
The Circle owner counts as one person. A person who belongs to two Circles counts once in each Circle, while a pending join request does not use capacity until it is approved. FamVerify does not currently offer a free trial.
The payer authorises the recurring subscription through the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android. Unless it is cancelled, the store charges monthly.
The store purchase screen shows the final local price, taxes, billing frequency and renewal date before you confirm. If the store’s displayed price differs from the UK examples above, the displayed store price controls. We will give advance notice of a price change and obtain any consent the store or law requires.
Cancellation, refunds and billing problems
Manage or cancel the subscription through the store account used to purchase it. Cancellation stops future renewal; the Circle normally remains subscribed until the paid period ends.
Refund requests are handled through Apple or Google, without limiting any statutory right you have. Deleting the app or your FamVerify account does not itself cancel a store subscription.
If the owner cancels or has an unresolved billing problem, the Circle may enter a store grace period and then become read-only. Recovery and essential account-safety controls remain available, but payment responsibility cannot currently be transferred to another member.
Acceptable use
Do not use FamVerify to:
- impersonate, deceive, harass, threaten or coerce another person;
- access an identity, phone, Circle or result without permission;
- send malicious invitations, automate abuse or interfere with availability;
- bypass security controls or submit forged, replayed or manipulated proof;
- break the law or encourage somebody else to do so.
We may limit, lock or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect people, investigate abuse, comply with law or maintain the service. We will explain the reason where it is lawful and safe to do so.
Leaving FamVerify and deleting an account
You can sign out, leave a Circle or start account deletion in Settings → Privacy → Delete account. If you cannot use the app, follow the web deletion guidance.
Account deletion is permanent. It immediately stops new activity, revokes the trusted phone and sessions, closes Circles you own and cancels open recovery requests. Eligible personal information is then erased or pseudonymised; limited security and accounting records remain only as explained in the Privacy notice.
Availability and changes
We use reasonable care to keep FamVerify available and secure, but no online service can promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update supported phone versions, security requirements and features where reasonably necessary.
For a material change that reduces a paid feature or affects your rights, we provide reasonable advance notice unless an urgent legal or security issue requires faster action.
Ownership, responsibility and your legal rights
FamVerify’s name, branding, website and software are protected by intellectual-property law. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose while your account is active.
We do not promise that FamVerify will prevent every scam, detect every compromised phone or stop a real Circle member from lying. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your statutory consumer rights, including rights relating to digital services supplied without reasonable care and skill.
Law, complaints and changes to these terms
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you retain any mandatory consumer protections and court rights that apply where you live.
Contact hello@andrewtech.co.uk or use our Contact page. We date material changes and explain them in the app or by another suitable route before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means the updated terms apply; if you do not agree, you may stop using the service and cancel your subscription.
